Queue groups

Learn how to use queue groups to control how your workflows scale and manage concurrency.

Each workflow in Hessian is backed by a queue. If a worker is busy running a job currently, this means that any new jobs you run will be processed eventually once a worker is available to pick them up. A queue group is a way of grouping multiple queues together, so that they can be processed by a set of workers.

Why use queue groups?

By default, each account starts with a default queue group, where any workers you create will automatically be assigned to. This is useful to get started, but as some of your workflows grow in complexity or scale, you may want to control how many workers are processing a specific workflow, or how many workers are processing a specific queue.

Queue groups allow you to do this. You can create a queue group, assign workers to it, and then assign queues to that group.

Creating a queue group

To create a queue group, go to the Queue groups section in the Hessian dashboard. Click on the Create queue group button and provide a name for your queue group. Once created, you can assign workers to this group.
